PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia Fire Department battled three separate fires early Saturday morning, including two that erupted within minutes of each other in West Philadelphia.
Several homes were damaged, and at least two people were injured. The icy conditions added additional challenges for firefighters.
The first fire was reported just after 2:00 a.m. on the 2000 block of North 8th Street in North Philadelphia.
Fire officials say an adult man was forced to jump from a second-story window to escape the flames.
He was taken to a nearby hospital and is being treated for burns.
In West Philadelphia, firefighters responded to a rowhome fire just after 3 a.m. on the 300 block of South 52nd Street.
When crews arrived, a row of homes was already engulfed in flames.
The fire spread quickly, damaging at least four houses. Officials say one structure partially collapsed as conditions deteriorated.
A second alarm was struck just before 4:00 a.m. after the fire extended to another home on the 5100 block of Delancey Street.
No injuries have been reported.
While firefighters were working the 52nd Street blaze, another fire was reported around 3:40 a.m. on the 5100 block of Hazel Avenue, just blocks away.
Crews arrived to find a three-story home fully engulfed.
At least one woman was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire also spread to the adjoining twin home.
Officials have not yet released the cause of the three fires and the conditions of those injured is unknown.
